Awesome Bloggers!

Blogging can be tough. Especially for a newbie blogger. Sometimes it feels all we do is promote, promote promote and results can be deflating. Blogging is also a world filled with support and love from other bloggers (which can be super empowering), so when Becky from The Lifestyle Blogger UK came up with a wonderful idea for a blogging collaboration, I was eager and excited to be involved. Awesome Bloggers is a blogging introduction series to help blogs reach a new readership, help build links and new relationships between bloggers and more importantly to have a little bit of fun. So do make sure you pop on over to any of the blogs below that appeal to you, leave a quick comment and show support. We all know how much this can bring a smile to someones face!

The Lifestyle Blogger UK

Becky is a beauty and lifestyle blogger based in the UK. Her blog is absolutely jam packed with honest reviews, life lessons, hacks, yummy recipes (I particularly like the Salted Caramel Brownie) and tips. Becky’s posts are brilliant, if you want a lighthearted lifestyle post to read, check out her thoughts on Toilet’s In America.  She’s worked with company’s such as Pandora, Ebay and Eat Sleep Doodle just to say the least, and her testimonial from these company’s are so positive. You can tell from her sites look and content that Becky is such a hard worker, so do check her out!ljj5_wvo

Polished by Leanne

As you can probably tell from the name of the site, Leanne over at Polished by Leanne, loves all things nails – which I think is super refreshing to see in the world of beauty. I mean seriously check out her incredible Blood Splattered Nails for Halloween, AND she still see’s herself as a novice. Pretty talented right? Leanne’s posts are so friendly to read, and she features beauty and lifestyle posts on the site too.  I really enjoyed reading Support Smaller Businesses This Christmas – not only does it make us super jealous of how organised she is starting Christmas shopping already but she gives us a lovely list of companies that could be lovely potential Christmas buys and her feedback/experience with those.polishedbyleanne-1

Steph Hannam

Steph has a degree in Interior Design so it goes without saying that her blog was going to include the element of interier, but she also writes about her other interests such as beauty, lifestyle and wedding planning. Her posts on Weddings are ones that I will be keenly watching out for with planning a wedding myself, so I excitedly read her Engagement Shoot. It was so nice to see London transformed, go check out the pictures and you will see what I mean!w0a4674.jpg

Zainab Travadi

If you are a lover of anything lifestyle, beauty or fashion, I would definitely pop on over to Zainab’s blog. When you first enter, the site is so simple and clear it makes navigation super easy and stress free. Her theme really does fit with her fashion and lifestyle niche. Zainab is great if you love celebrity style and checking out pictures of them in different outfits and situations – I enjoyed her round up on Emma Watson‘s street style. Maybelline The Colossal Volum’ Express is a product that I use so I was eager to read up what Zainab thought – I love how Zainab covers everything from product availability to her own opinions in terms of pros/cons. It’s a super detailed and very well loved beauty review post, so if that’s your thing…visit visit visit!tumblr_nmz2tgzrf31rlj45vo1_1280

Naomi Rowan

Naomi is a beauty, lifestyle and like me, a bit of everything goes blogger. You can see that when visiting her site. She covers tips such as How to use Twitter for your Blog to posts on her opinions about beauty products. I enjoyed reading about her Love Me Beauty box, she really writes in a friendly, easy to read way and it was interesting to see what she thought about each  product (and it made me realise that the box is well worth the money so it’s on my to do list I think!). If you do want to get a feel for Naomi a little more, check out her Liebster Award post – as you know this includes some fun facts and helps you learn about the blogger that little bit more. I learnt we both love the show Friends. What can you learn? 14139289_928105297293681_151655209_o

Beck Beauty XO

Upon gathering information for this blogger collab, I learnt that Beck Beauty XO is a new blog (it was a week old to be exact!).But that hasn’t stopped 21 year old Beck. Beck is a mother of 2 but that doesn’t define her blog. She created the page to help others like her understand that make up doesn’t have to be expensive and that you can love any brand! Beck is pretty much a pro-budget beauty blogger, and you know what I love that. When reading her beauty post on her Essence Haul, which she raided the sale box where products were as little as 10p, it’s clear that Beck is bang on trend with her love of nude nails.  I never even thought to visit Wilkinson’s for some cheap budget make up, so thanks for that Beck! Do visit her page. h

Jadey Lou xxx

Jadey Lou xxx is a beauty blogger. Her site is lovely and colourful and really moulds nicely with her brand. She aims to help other people like herself get the most out of beauty, helping them to get the best buys and products. I was interested to read her thoughts on Garnier Micellar Water after doing a review myself as part of my skincare regime – we shared similar thoughts on the product, but check out her review to see what you think. Jadey Lou has a great use of her own images, I think her post on Technic Make Up really showcases this, especially with the colour swatches on her eye. Lets the readers connect a little bit more with her reviews. But again, if your interested in lots of lovely reviews on beauty and all things related. Check her out! It’s clear she has a passion and I think she does a brilliant job!image-6

Han Meets World

Last but not least we have Han, over at Han Meets World, which is a lifestyle blog packed full of inspiration. Han has dedicated sections to her site, covering posts on Fashion, Healthy Eating, a section named ‘In The City’ which is enriched with lots of lovely inspiring personal posts and Business & Enterprise. I think my favourite section is In the City and in that section her post on her decision to move to London and the journey is brought, see Challenging My Identity. I think this post is one that really connects with the readers and helps us to see who Han is – and what her page is going to be about. She sets goals for herself, but also her words really inspire me. Go and have a root around on her page and see what appealing to you, there’s plenty to get your teeth into.

So there you have it. Eight absolutely AWESOME Bloggers, all tackling their chosen niches brilliantly. I could sit and ramble about their sites for ages, but the best way to truly understand what they do and how they do it is to visit! There is so much more to them all than their ‘niche’ title gives them, and all have such personal, friendly touches in each post. Share the love for these bloggers and pop on over, get some karma out in the bloggersphere!

Sunshine Blogger Award: My answers and nominations.

Isn’t it wonderful when someone thinks of you? Whether that’s thinking of you and giving you a phone call, popping in for a nice cup of tea or even surprising you a bunch of flowers randomly. We all like being thought about. Even more so in the blogging community. So I was absolutely delighted that my fellow blogger Mrs Mummy Harris (do give her a visit, she does so truly wonderful posts like this) tweeted me to inform me she had nominated me for a Sunshine Blogger Award. Many of you have probably stumbled across this, or even been nominated yourself well done if so, but it’s not an award that requires a trophy and speech but an award where five bloggers are nominated to answer ten questions (given to them by their nominated blogger) to answer in a new blog. So here we go, my ten questions and my five nominated bloggers!

Text with sunshine graphic

1) Who was your childhood celebrity crush? You know what, I don’t even recall. My only teenage crush that sticks out in my mind, and yes I’m still a sucker for him, is Cristiano Ronaldo (insert judgemental comments here). But in my defence, 1 – he isn’t a bad looking egg, and 2 – I fancied him when he was a spotty teen starting out. Gee.

2) What has been your favourite post that you’ve written to date? I like everything I write, except my early things as I didn’t have a clue about blogging or what to do or write. But recently I really enjoyed writing about the sitcom Friends and what I feel each character taught us. It was just a lighthearted, spur of the moment post.

3) What advice would you give to fellow bloggers? Don’t take things too seriously. Even if you want to blog as a career eventually. Don’t let yourself get caught up in the pressures, the numbers, the seriousness of it all. Just write for you, about what you want and build yourself that way. Take a break when needed. It does you and your blog, the world of good and stops you burning yourself out.

4) If you could survive on one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Food in general. No? Well being 17 weeks pregnant and it currently being lunchtime, I literally could survive on anything for life. But I do love a nice juicy cheese burger. Yum yum yum!

5) What song would you say is the soundtrack to your life? Oooh. This requires some thought. There are so many amazing songs. I really love Beyonces – I Was Here. That song just gives me goosebumps and chills, I think it is so meaningful and can mean anything to anyone. Really motivates me to do some good. I’m definitely more of a look to the future person than sit and mope about the past, so this is a good song for that.

6) Who would you get to play you in a movie? I used to get referenced to Elle Wood’s (Reece Witherspoon’s character in Legally Blonde), so I think I would get her to play me in a movie. She’s blonde, fun and I think she’d be a good fit.

7) What are your aims for your blog? Goodness, this is something I’ve never actually really sat down and given some thought. For now, I just want to blog for me. Build a small readership and become more established. In the far future, I would love to make my blog my work. I love the idea of having the opportunity to work from home, to be able to write for a living. Seems a long, winding journey but it’s definitely my goal. Lots of work to do though before that is anywhere in reach.

8) Strictly Come Dancing or X Factor? These questions are tough ones. Well as a former dancer, I love Strictly. The thing is, I think they really drag it out. I don’t like the cheesy little ‘promos’ before each couple dance and sometimes it’s a bit like oh just get on with it. That being said, X Factor is loosing my respect rapidly. Understand it’s an entertainment show but how can it question why it’s loosing viewers when they don’t put through real talent? That being said when I think about Saturday night TV, I think X Factor sat on the sofa with my Hub2Me. I think it’s 60%/40% Strictly though.

9) What came first, the chicken or the egg? I can’t even answer this. Is it weird this is something that me and Hub2Be discuss regularly!

10) If you could vote anyone in as Prime Minister, who would it be? Judge Rinder all day. I love him. After seeing him more on Strictly I think he is absolutely brilliant. So yeah, he has my vote!

How to deal with negative energy.

I have a problem. Like many people, I have allowed negative energy into my life. Let them it irritate and cloud my usually rainless mind. Why? Who knows why any of us let this induce us into sitting pondering in a world of our own. Stewing and mulling over circumstances. You know the kind. The embezzler of good energy. The bodies who repeatedly seem to be in a squabble with someone, or forever updating social media with passive aggressive updates, and most frustratingly think their opinions are the only appropriate, correct ones. Ever.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not always, nor have I always been, a ball of light but in my life now, I consciously try to put kindness out to the world. I don’t talk bad about people. I never say anything to a person that I wouldn’t feel comfortable saying in front of them. I strongly believe in karma – though I am waiting for some to reinforce my beliefs. I believe I’m a honest and fair person.  I believe in apologising for your wrongs. I believe in learning from mistakes. I believe in making mistakes. I’m human.

Now the spirit stealers I am referring to do none of these things. Instead they mostly make you feel upset, troubled, confused. The people who you struggle to recall when you last had a carefree conversation was with. The people who think and whats worse, make you feel as if, they are above you,  talk down to you. The ones who emotionally drain us to a point you welcome the day you awake with the stress of them gone from your shoulders, which is extremely sad.

Now as we know blogging is an ideal way to express and compose your thoughts/feelings in a healthy way -to a world of neutral and sincere readers but after an extremely draining morning (concluding in me breaking loose from the negativity within my life, at least until a corner has been turned and their own issues have been addressed) I felt it was time for me to channel my feelings of frustration into words of motivation. Here’s my top tips to keep positive when surrounded by negative and when dealing with negativity:

  • No matter what, believe in yourself. It’s hard to not become riddled with self-doubt when unpleasantness is being directed to you. BUT be strong. Have strength. You can overcome this.
  • Reflect and articulate yourself before you respond. There is nothing worse than reacting in the heat of the moment, take a moment to ponder on what is happening. React in a healthy way that reflects who you are. Not in a way you will later wish you didn’t. Make sure you are clear, calm and concise in expressing your thoughts and feelings. There is no point in addressing invalid points and working yourself up.
  • Surround yourself with beautiful, strong, honest people. For me I am extremely lucky to have hub-to-be. Someone I can freely communicate with and unload when I need too. What’s more he is not afraid to tell me if I am wrong, if he doesn’t agree with the way something is handled but is still someone who will support and uplift you 100%. This truthfulness I admire massively. I believe that if you surround yourself with kind people, they influence you. Likewise with negative.
  • Always be aware and pick your battles. When dealing something like this, it’s important to understand that you can’t battle every time. It will drain you, mentally exhaust you and leave you feeling worse of than you started. It’s important to be able to identify what you need to let go of, for your own sanity, and when you feel it’s time to address something and stand up to the problem.
  • Support yourself. I truly believe that for one negative energy in life, you need to give out a million more positive vibes. Wash out that negativity in a productive way. Channel your frustration into motivation. Use the emotions to better yourself. Whether that’s in your job, your friendships, hobbies, social media etc. Point those feelings into the universe as positive ones. Karma will come back to you.

Remember, look after yourself. And those most important to you. Uplift others. Be kind daily. Treat others how you want to be treated. Block out the negative vibes. And most importantly, admit when you are wrong/when you have done wrong and that you are human. You gain a lot more respect in doing so,  as oppose to claiming you are in the right and trying to put others down in doing so. Do not let negative people turn you into one.
